Anguilla Lawyer CAA storm_westMr. Storm Westmaas was born in Guyana, South America and educated in Guyana and the United Kingdom.  He received a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy and Politics from Warwick University and completed a Diploma in Law from City University, London.  He is a Member of the Inner Temple and was called to the Bar of England in 1984 and is currently a practicing barrister in London’s Lincoln’s Inn.

Mr. Westmaas has practiced in the UK, in Guyana, and the Eastern Caribbean and his experience includes contentious and non-contentious company and commercial matters, and complex litigation requiring the development of an expertise in elements of US tax and banking law and US and Caribbean accountancy practices and procedures.

Mr. Westmass has advised and represented a wide range of regional and international clients, across a broad area of business and professional areas.  His clients have included private corporations and organisations, national and local government departments and officers and councils.  His areas of legal expertise include gold, diamond and oil exploration grants and contracts, forestry and timber matters, insurance, hotel and tourism employment, commercial, probate, trusts and other related matters .

Most recently Mr. Westmass has once again been working in the UK during which time he has developed considerable expertise in the ethical regulation of politicians and the interpretation and implementation of Codes of Conduct and associated legislation, constitutional and administrative law and judicial review.   

He is an ex-Treasurer of the Guyana Bar Association.
